Happy New Year! I hope 2009 brings you everything you need, and most of what you want.
Well here we are almost at the end of 2008. At midnight tonight all my digiland stores will be closing, time to move on to something new. But what?
Well, back in the autumn I decided to take part in a little design competition. I had no expectation of getting anywhere, or even of making it past round one, but amazingly, unbelievably, gobsmackingly, I did. I got through rounds one, two, three, four and five and on the day the contest ended I got the most amazing email:
“Dear Ruby, We have a bit of a different proposal for you. We would like to offer you a full designer position – rather than having you go through the whole apprentice process . We love your work and we think you would make a great addition to the family.”
Well, I was absolutely stunned, flattered and delighted.
But I already have stores, so why on earth would I give them up?
Well, perhaps because the store in question is the biggest digital scrapbooking website on the net (over 142,000 members and more traffic than any other), the second biggest scrapbooking website in the world, and the seventeeth biggest craft-related website in existence. The mother of all digital scrapbooking sites and stores – DSP. Talk about a dream gig.
To say I am excited, thrilled, elated… All these would be a pitiful understatement. I feel like a rock star.
It’s official as of January 1st, and my stuff is in store from 15th Jan (just enough time to sober up from my birthday to enjoy it). Come visit me

So 2008 is drawing to a close, the gingerbread cookies are made and iced, the drama club party is tomorrow afternoon and all is well with the world. I got some amazing news this morning, I am so excited for 2009, but I’m not allowed to tell you all just yet. Suffice to say that my designing career path will change beyond recognition come Jan 1st. You’ll have to check back after Christmas to find out my secret! Sorry, I know I am a meanie for leading you on like this, but you know you love it really.
